DomQuartier Salzburg

In 2014 Salzburg completed a substantial restoration of the episcopal buildings surrounding its 17th century cathedral.

There are a couple of different entrances, both of which link to a circle tour that includes several museums and the public and private apartments of the prince-bishops. The entrance next to the main entrance to the cathedral seems to be the least busy.

Unfortunately many of the most valuable treasures were dispersed during the Napoleonic era, first to Florence, then Vienna and Munich.

One of the most interesting objects is an 8th century cross from England legend says was brought by St. Ruprecht, the Celtic missionary who first founded a church at this site.
